prominence of this particular paper, it is difficult to remember that is still a relatively new publication -- the first issue of USA Today was published on Sept. 15, 1982.
When it was first launched, it was the first general-interest daily to be launched since Long Islands Newsday, a paper that was launched during the 1940s. Despite the
apparent success of the paper however, it did suffer several growing pains, especially during the 1980s. This paper, prepared as a tutorial
to help this student better frame thoughts in order to write a marketing paper on USA Today, will examine the situation facing the publication when it was first launched, described
the 4 Ps of marketing the paper and determine what Gannett -- the company that owns the paper -- did to try to solve certain problems. From these problems
and solutions, we will try to make some suggestions for the student as to how to structure alternate solutions to challenges. In
addition to pulling information from a specific case study detailing the marketing of USA Today, this paper will also rely on information provided by the book entitled The Making of
McPaper: The Inside Story of USA Today, which was written by Peter Prichard. Situation In this section, the student would make mention
