of the tension between the light of charity, love, and forgiveness as opposed to the dark side of nature, that of violence, inequity, and cruelty. It is part of humanity
to endeavor to surmount the human instinct for destruction and seek to heal the wounds of the past (Steel, 1998). There have been many periods of discrimination and annihilation. Religious
wars and the conquering of other races run rampant through the pages of history. Genocide was not defined within the past century. It has happened before. The lesson of the
Holocaust is that this may be the last instance of systematic and organized execution of a race. More than fifty years later the answers to why and how this happened
are still being discovered and debated. The roots of anti-semitism and the path of uncontrolled political power are issues that are of great interest to the future of mankind.
