The purpose of this paper is to determine what role prayer plays in both Judaism, which relies on Torah, and Islam, which follows the teaching of the Koran. The thesis
statement is that prayer is an important aspect in both religions, as reflected through the written word of each religion. In writing a paper of this type, the student must
decide on a thesis. The main thesis of this paper is that, despite the variances between both Islam and Judaism, both share many traits in common including respect for their
Creators, strict observance to their laws, and use of prayer in their lives. The rest of this paper, therefore, will provide examples and sources to support the thesis, or theme,
of this essay. Before determining the importance of prayer in each religion, it is important for the student to have a working background
and knowledge of both Judaism and Islam so as to better compare the role that prayer has in both. This paper will rely on an outside source to discuss Muslim
beliefs, one that also incorporate teachings from the Koran. By the same token, this paper will describe Jewish beliefs from the Holy Scriptures, which is considered the writings of God.
