developed a cult following. Given that there were better movies made at the time, one has to wonder why, of all of those movies made, only Buffy was deemed marketable
enough to warrant television time. What Buffy the Vampire Slayer serves to remind those in the industry is that you never know and that many of the themes expressed through
the various characters are universal in nature. In school Buffy and friends are treated to a lecture in psych class about non-verbal communication. Buffy is asked to aid in a
demonstration. As she does things, as they usually do, get weird. Riley comes up and leans over her saying that when he kisses her the sun will go down. As
he does so, the sun does go down. A long series of events unfold with Buffy meeting a mysterious little girl in the hallway with a box. Riley appears to
be very surreal and turns into a grinning monster. Everything fades and Buffy wakes up from a dream in psyche class, glad that it was only a dream. Only it
wasnt. The phrase, "Fortune favors the brave" echoes through her mind(Buffy). The rest of the episode has to do with non-verbal communication. When the newest set of monster thugs show
up they are bent on stealing all of the voices of the townsfolk, then their hearts, in that order. Without voices the main characters must do a whole show using
gestures and non-verbal communication. At least, that was probably the plan, but in the end, some of the communication had to be done with dry erase boards. Nonetheless, when
one analyzes this episode for social criticism, one can see that something is robbing everyone of his or her voice. This something is very old and is managed, at first,
