in their own countries. The manner by which the UK addresses this steadily growing annual influx is part and parcel to maintaining the cycle of life where people must
run and hide or die trying to escape persecution. According to Asylum Aid, the fundamental objective of this and other similar UK organizations is "to ensure that people seeking
safety from persecution are able to access protection, and that the highest standards of fairness and justice are upheld" (Secure Borders, Safe Haven). UK policy has not always been this
liberal, however, and supporters of refugee and asylum seeker protection argue that reform to existing legislature must take place in order to provide the persecuted with a safe place to
call home. Answering the call for ongoing and much-needed "free advice, legal representation and support to refugees and asylum-seekers in the UK" (Secure Borders, Safe Haven), Asylum Aid contends
that those who seek safe harbor in the UK are not treated with the same inherent rights as any other human being living there. As such, the organization claims
reforms must be made to overall policy in order to more fully embrace, support, accept and accommodate asylum seekers without reservation. "Refugees and asylum-seekers arriving in the UK face
