The United States played a major role during that time in influencing the politics, economics and culture of those countries. In addition, the United States was also involved in
the development of smaller Asia countries like Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia. The cold war was the relationship that developed primarily
between the Soviet Union and the United States after the conclusion of World War II. This phenomenon dominated international affairs for several decades. As a result of the distrust
between the United States and the Soviet Union, several world crisis occurred, i.e. the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Berlin Wall. The real
worrisome issue during this time was the growth in the possession of weapons of mass destruction by each country. The threat of weapons of mass destruction at that time was
the concern over the use of the atomic bomb. The United States had developed and used the bomb against Japan to bring World War II to a conclusion.
The United States felt that the Soviet Union had also developed the bomb. The general public bought into the fear. Across the nation, private citizens were building and
stocking bomb shelters. School children were participating in disaster drills. The focus of this paper will be the involvement
of the United States in the development of Asia during 1945-1980. The involvement of the United States has been a major factor in the changes of the vast geographical area
of Asia and Southeast Asia. The countries of this region have a cultural, political and historical diversity. The area has two giant countries, China and Japan, but also
