Internet, of course; this is just one technology, a network technology, that leaves an individual open for having his/her privacy rights violated.
Another technology that is somewhat tricky is that of radio frequency identification, or RFID. RFID uses a microchip to track items - but these chips can sometimes be linked to
a database that can tell someone about a consumers buying patterns (Rulon, 2006). Furthermore, there are concerns that radio waves that power RFID are easy enough to hack.
The third technology that is used is that of mobile technology - almost everyone has a smart phone in this day and age, and
it becomes all too easy to read certain patterns from its usage, from the fact that a smart phone user calls his mom every Sunday to the fact that this
user is a regular visitor on social networks or on certain websites. All of this is concerning enough when it comes to
privacy - and it isnt helped by the fact that there are certain cases in which the federal government has the right to make private information public. The U.S. Patriot
Act of 2001 allows the federal government certain inroads into an individuals privacy, especially if that individual is believed to be a threat to national security. On the other end
