U-Build-It Hardware Company is a well established company selling a broad range of DIY and Garden goods out of three shops. The
shops may be doing well, but the environment is changing and more consumers are changing their purchase habits, making online purchases, this is a trend that is expected to carry
on, especially for large homogenous products that can be bought from different suppliers (Chaffey, 2004). If U-Build-It Hardware Company does not embrace this now way of selling they will be
left behind and unlikely to survive more than ten years. The plan is to implement an internet strategy in three stages; this will facilitate a relativity gentle learning curve and
allow the business to build up in this area while it is learning, to create revenues to facilitate that growth and allow the firm to learn and adapt as they
accumulate knowledge. Stage 1 is a gentle introduction, with a simple web site that sells only the most popular and easy to package goods, using a third part to
process payments. In the back office the order system creates orders that can be printed to allow the staff to put together the orders and send them out, manual process
will be needed in order to complete the process on the system and adjust the accounts and inventory levels. Stage 2 sees more integration. The firm will sell more
goods through the internet site and take over processing payments for themselves. The order process will integrate with the accounts and the inventory system in the back office allowing for
