just using the words, verbatim, of some other writer and never giving them credit for their wording. However, plagiarism is fare more complex than that and there are many ways
to plagiarize without intentionally doing so, and even ways in which a person can plagiarize while trying very hard not to do so. The following paper examines various types of
plagiarism, intentional and otherwise. Types of Plagiarism Interestingly enough, plagiarism is something that is fairly well defined and typified in all nations. As an example of this the
University of Hong Kong provides the basic outline of what is considered to be plagiarism and the different types. They note that there is "Direct copying (verbatim) from internet sources
or texts without acknowledgement (not even in the list of references/bibliography at the end)" (University of Hong Kong Department of Politics and Public Administration, 2007). There is direct copying that
involves using very large blocks of quotations from other sources and including them in the bibliography (University of Hong Kong Department of Politics and Public Administration, 2007). In essence, this
constitutes the fact that there is too much material from outside sources in the paper and not enough personal writing. There is the form of plagiarism that involves "No citation
throughout the essay, with a list of references only at the end" which illustrates no clear evidence that direct copying was involved "but evidence of failure to acknowledge source of
ideas" (University of Hong Kong Department of Politics and Public Administration, 2007). Perhaps a very common form of plagiarism is paraphrasing but
