the depression that comes with bipolar disorder. Another insight is that mania is easy to treat. To add to the posting, there is concern about misdiagnosis. Loganathan et al.
(2010) states that bipolar is often initially diagnosed as depression. To avoid making this error, the doctor needs to take a detailed medical and family history and have the
patient complete the Mood Disorder Questionnaire. One opinion regarding bipolar is that there are times when antidepressants will actually harm the patient. This is validated through numerous studies (Bender,
2009). The research indicates that patients who demonstrate even minimally manic symptoms could be put into a full-blown manic state if they take antidepressants. Question: Should we really be
prescribing antidepressant medications to children? Consider the fact than few, if any, are approved by the FDA for persons under the age of 12. The same kinds of drugs are
