The English Civil was just one among a series of interlocking conflicts that covered the British Isles in the 17th century and has
often been termed or linked with the conflicts also known as the "Puritan Revolution", the "English Revolution" and most recently the "British Civil Wars" (Ohlmeyer, 1998). One of the terms
used in describing the conflicts is "Wars of the Three Kingdoms" which best represents the Stuart kingdoms during the wars and the situation which was occurring simultaneously in Ireland, Scotland
and England (Ohlmeyer, 1998). Early in the 1600s James VI may have concentrated more on what was occurring in Scotland and England and treating Ireland as a colony rather than
a kingdom despite the fact that he intended on ruling all three kingdoms as united and promoting trade among the three. Charles I in 1638 treated the triad as a
union when he required Irish aid and men to help defeat the Scottish rebellion and in turn in December of 1647, he drew on his Scottish resources to help win
back parts of England (Ohlmeyer, 1998). In an attempt to "colonize" Ireland with English interests, the English Lord Deputy of Ireland, Thomas Wentworth, tried unsuccessfully, to create a systematic colonization
of Irish counties with English settlers in the hopes that the Irish would adopt the political, social and religion of the English. [there are many more details pertaining to Wentworth
