partly genetic, where two eggs are released into the womb at the same time and fertilized, resulting in siblings born at the same time. Identical twinning results from a split
in the fertilized egg. In recent months, there had even been talk of the possibility of half identical twins, where each twin receives the same genetic material from one parent
only. No matter what type of twins are born, they will likely grow up together where it is thought that a special bond is created. Whether they are identical
or not, these siblings are the same age and this is thus an unusual situation. These siblings, unlike singletons, are sometimes in the same class, participate in the same activities,
and may even share similar interests and talents. Unlike siblings that are born during a different time, twins have one another as a playmate at all times. Because they are
the same age, they will be at the same developmental stage. Many twins share a crib until they become too large and then are moved up to their own.
When they are small, they like the sense of the other twin next to them. After all, they have spent much time in the womb together. Yet, by the time
they are adults, twins may not want to be very close, despite the strong bond they shared as infants. This is a part of the separation process that is very
important for twins who will have identity problems due to the nature of their birth. In trying to understand twin behavior, it helps to look at child development in general,
