the word "nigger" in his novel to the apparent weak finish to the book concerning Hucks interest in his friend, the runaway slave Jim, there has been many critiques that
argue one way or another about Twains infamous novel. The following paper examines his novel and critiques on his novel. Huck Finn One of the most important elements
of Twains novel is seen in the beginning and involves the use of dialect, something Twain was often respected for: "YOU dont know about me without you have read
a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer; but that aint no matter. That book was made by Mr. Mark Twain, and he told the truth, mainly.
There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the truth. That is nothing. I never seen anybody but lied one time or another, without it was Aunt Polly,
or the widow, or maybe Mary. Aunt Polly -- Toms Aunt Polly, she is -- and Mary, and the Widow Douglas is all told about in that book, which is
mostly a true book, with some stretchers, as I said before" (Twain Chapter I NA). In examining this approach to language, we note that one author states that Twain
is making a hero of his Huck in the book by telling the story in the boys own dialect (Romeu). Interestingly enough, according to Romeu, the San Francisco Chronicle attacked
