the analysis and then look at the different influences. Founded in 1992 and incorporated in Ireland the firm develops, acquires, manufactures and
markets equipment to be used for diagnosis in the medical environment. The two main segments are the clinical laboratory and diagnosis equipment and tests which can be used at the
point of care1. The company has grown by way of organic growth as well as acquisition including the acquisition of Cortec Biochem Inc in September 2007 and parts of the
Sterilab Services UK operations in October 2007. The main market for the tests sold by the company is the US which accounted for 60% of sales in financial year 2010,
up from 54% in 2009 and 50% in 2008 (Trinity Biotech, 2010). The operations are supported by four manufacturing facilities, one ion Ireland, located at Bray and three in
the United states located at Jamestown in New York, Carlsbad in California and in Missouri a site at Kansas City (Trinity Biotech, 2010). In addition to the diagnosis
sector, the company, operating through the subsidiary company Fitzgerald Industries, the company also sells a range of raw materials to firms operating within the life science industries (Trinity Biotech, 2010).
