are interconnected every minute of the day due to changes in technology. Political trends seem to also focus on technology. The fact that there are now televised wars is shocking,
but it has altered the political landscape a great deal. During the 1960s, the public was sheltered from the body bags at least to an extent, but today, there is
a great deal of coverage not only from television but coming from social media on the Internet. Trends in personal development have changed. People now align themselves with causes, spiritual
journeys and career paths that are different from traditional goals. There is a sense of individuality that permeates America today. Finally, there is greater tolerance of religious faiths, and this
has been true especially since 9/11. First, social trends include the fact that people are interconnected. They update their Facebook or Twitter pages from their cell phones and are now
reachable almost on a constant basis. Yet, while that is one obvious trend that has created greater bonds between family and friends, another is the acceptance of alternative lifestyles. This
not only is attached to homosexuality, but to other alternatives. Gay marriage for example is a significantly volatile issue, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. Aaron Gross
(1996) asks: "Should the state be required to support as well as legally grant rights and privileges to every consensual arrangement between two adults? What if a brother and
sister decide to marry? Why not a father with his adult daughter? Why even stop at marriages between two adults? Why not an aunt with four nephews
