working towards better and more effective ways of treating lung cancer. The problem, it seems, with lung cancer, is that once it is detected it is often very advanced and
thus there is seldom any hope of recovery or treatment. But, this only makes the need for treatment more important and thus leads to more testing and research. The following
paper examines what is new in relationship to testing new treatments and new treatments. (It should be noted that the student requested that citations not be used. This paper will
provide citations as that is proper and also serves as part of the tutorial process of the paper. The paper will essentially offer the information available for the student to
utilize in their own essay.) Treatments for Lung Cancer In looking at new testing for treatment and new treatment the first article to be examined comes from 2002 and
discusses a then, new drug called Iressa. In this particular article the author notes that health professionals are always grasping at any drug, any form of hope, for treating lung
cancer, especially when those straws they are grasping at "are few and far between" (Couzin, 2002; 522). It is apparent that most treatments are not necessarily incredibly helpful, nor do
they offer much hope. As such the arrival of Iressa seemed incredibly promising: "Adriane Riddle, had traveled from San Bernardino, California, to tell the assembled doctors, drug company representatives,
and regulators about the miracle drug she believed saved her life when she was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer two summers ago at a startlingly young age. It has given
