taken young, and the media says that an event is tragic, others think of it as Gods will or something that is inevitable due to fate. When Romeo and Juliet
died unnecessarily, people thought it was tragic and Shakespeare meant it to be a tragedy, but what is a tragedy exactly? The term tragedy, in ancient Greece, refers
to a drama that features a tragic hero ("Introduction," 2005). A misfortune of a great magnitude is part of the plot and the misfortune is not an accident and thus
meaningless (2005). An example of this might be the concept of the senseless murder. Some suggest that this is an oxymoron. After all, what murder is sensible? But when a
young life is taken due to some sick mind who enjoys watching someone else die, it is more than just a fated misfortune. It is tragic. The point is that
one is struck by the horrific nature of an act coupled with the fact that it should never have occurred. The nature of the tragedy is that it is connected
with the heros activities and it emphasizes human vulnerability (2005). To Aristotle, tragedy is "the imitation of action" (Smethurst, 1996). Some concepts that are related to tragedy include the master
and slave morality model. This model centers on good and evil and is therefore related at least to the tragic hero, and possibly the origins of tragedy. Master morality centers
around the distinction between good and bad, but slave morality on the other hand, distinguishes between good and evil (Restall, 1998). Good is a different function from either form of
