such groups, but more so because a careful analysis of hate groups will allow one to better identify the trends and characteristics that are associated with particular manifestations of hatred.
This paper will explore a variety of hate groups in the context of their similarities and differences to other groups. This paragraph helps the student compare the political emphasis and
community values of certain groups. For example, by using a proper consideration of values and political and ideological stances, one might divide "white supremacist" groups into a number of categories
including white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and racist skinheads. Among these groups, it could be indicated that white nationalists such as the League of the South and neo-Nazis such as the National
Socialist Movement tend to be more politically oriented than racist skinheads, and more prone to community and recruitment tactics. For instance, the League of the South bases its views upon
a claim of Southern political secession from the Union, a political emphasis that is shared by 90% of observed white nationalist groups and neo-Nazi groups, but occurs in just 60%
of racist skinhead groups (League of the South, 201; National Socialist Movement, 2011). Racist skinhead groups, by contrast, might have some political motivation, but the ideology is centered less at
recruitment and more at justifying the subjugation of certain populations, as seen in Volksfront Internationals desire to "end non-white immigration to Europe, North America, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand"
