base products and with cars this may mean the continual production, but finishing time to coincide with upcoming orders. Advantages are 1. Mass customisation can be result in
a lower level of obsolete stock as it is finished when it is ordered rather than made and then risk standing without being sold. 2. The system is likely
to lead to greater customer satisfaction as there is a faster and more responsive system that will give them a car with the features they want without having to wait
many weeks. 3. The method is cost effective, as well as reducing the potential level of obsolete stock it also reduces stock levels all over meaning there is less
working capital tied up in the stock which also reduces the level of opportunity cost associated with holding high value stocks Disadvantages are 1. This type of system will
not get rid of all stock, there will still be demand for immediate supply and demonstrator cars will be needed, therefore there will need to be two systems running next
to each other; the stock cars and the mass customisation. 2. The implementation of a system such as this would require a high level of investment to put into
place the required technology. 3. Production may be more difficult to plan as the specific demand will not be known until the order is placed, making it harder to
