back to the early 1950s. It is a powerful and rebellious story about finding ones place in the literal universe, as well as a tale of control and government and
social class and hierarchy. In short, it is a story of many things, socially and personally. The following paper examines the title of the story and discusses whether or not
it is an adequate and necessary title. Title: And Then There Were None by Russell In this story the title of
the work comes to the reader in the very last line of the story. Up until that point the story seems to simply set the stage, develop the plot, of
who many men are becoming disgruntled, or realizing they were disgruntled and lost, with their present situation. It is a story that speaks of the people who wander the skies,
the powers, the political and universal forces that have particular rules they live by. Until they arrive on this one planet it seems that most people simply accept this reality,
this life, and this fate. But, with this planet, a planet that essentially seems to have been founded on civil disobedience as embodied by Gandhi, many men decide they "wont"
follow orders or continue on the ship in the way of their previous existence. Because the story leads up to this, and
the primary characters own examination of his existence, the title seems very appropriate in the story. The phrase, and then there were none, denotes that many things have taken place
and one by one people had gradually left some particular location, or lifestyle. As such the title is incredibly relevant and seems to fit the story perfectly. In addition, the
