using this paper properly! Introduction To many Timothy Leary was a man of incredible vision and creativity. To others he was a disturbed and lost man. Whatever ones opinion
of Timothy Leary he was a man that would influence and enlighten many individuals. He was perhaps, primarily known for his advocating LSD as a method becoming more aware, but
was also a very skilled psychologist. In the following paper we examine the man and his career, and then discuss his ideals and whether they were valid ideals or not.
Career As a young man he was one to think and live. After high school, which involved the experience of attending the Jesuit college Holy Cross,
he went to West Point. "Timothy was very enthused and proud to be at West Point. This was one of the most prestigious academies in the country where some of
Americas most important figures graduated" (Anonymous Timothy Leary, 2001; TL.htm). But, as would perhaps be expected, "his disillusionment grew when he realized that he was being trained not to think,
but to follow" (Anonymous Timothy Leary, 2001; TL.htm). He quickly grew tired of West Point and moved on to the University of Alabama where he became a psychology major. The
head of the department informed Timothy that he needed some intelligent students. Leary recalls this experience in the following: "This was the first time in my life that I had
heard anyone imply intelligence was a desirable trait. Up to this moment being smart had always got me in trouble. Conformity was the virtue I was used to hearing about"
(Anonymous Timothy Leary, 2001; TL.htm). He was expelled for sleeping in the girls dormitory, although he was an A student. He went into basic training and was offered
