Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 8 page paper examines various sources that discuss the possibility of time travel, and concludes that while it is unlikely, it is impossible to say definitively that it will never be possible to travel in time. Because we cannot say “no” in all cases, we have to leave the possibility open and say that yes, time travel might be possible, though not for a very long time and then probably with technology we cannot currently imagine. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

time travel is impossible), but now scientists are beginning to consider it seriously. This paper discusses the current theories and whether or not they support the idea of time travel.
It will do nothing to clear things up. Discussion The first question is obvious, but its not trivial at all: what do we mean by "time travel"? For the purposes
of this paper, were assuming that were looking at the concept popularized in countless films and books: an astronaut or explorer climbs into a rocket/pod/machine, pushes a button or pulls
a lever, and arrives physically in a different time period. He (its always a man in these stories) falls in love with a scantily-clad young woman, rescues the inhabitants of
this period from some unspecified but horrendous danger, and then returns to his starting point (in both space AND time); bringing the scantily-clad young lady with him is optional. If
this is the definition of time travel, then it seems unlikely. But if by time travel we mean examining events from a different frame of reference, then it may be
possible. The most famous example comes from Einsteins theories of relativity; its the well-known "twin paradox" (Davies, 2002). In this concept, we consider the situation of Sally and Sam,
who are identical twins. While Sam remains at home, Sally gets on a rocket ship, "travels at high speed to a nearby star, [then] turns around and flies back to
Earth" (Davies 50). When she arrives, she finds that although to her only a year has passed, ten years have gone by on Earth and Sam is now nine years
her senior (Davies). Even though they were born at exactly the same time, the twins are not the same age any longer (Davies). This example illustrates a "limited type of
