The interesting thesis of this paper is to point out that while Edison was possibly a genius, the fact is that almost anyone can learn to think the way Edison thought and to be as productive an inventor as the man who is best known for inventing the incandescent light bulb. work, stick-to-itiveness, and common sense" (McAuliffe 80). The above statement clearly sums up what Thomas Alva Edison believed genius to be. The fact of the matter is
that Edison in his lifetime has more patents to his credit than any other person in history: 1,093 (McAuliffe 80). Because those things that Edison invented were major applications
that changed the lives of millions of people, Edison is given credit for being an extraordinary genius. But was he really? When we look at Edison, the real
man, we will find that he really did simply have more passion and perseverance than most people and that these are two of the qualities that made him a remarkable
