to cut into language arts. When asked how science is different from the other subjects in school, told the interviewer: "The other subjects are different because if you study language
art, you dont do science." The corollary to this response is that if they do science, they dont do language arts. Reading is part of the language arts curriculum and
that is his favorite subject. He may not like having to give up language arts for science. The child has a relatively good grasp of what a scientist
is, does and looks like for his age. He responded that scientists "study animals and people." In his picture, he drew the scientist with neat hair, a lab coat
with a pocket and his own name over the pocket, eyeglasses and a watch on his right wrist. He also said the scientist had white shoes on although these are
not depicted in the drawing. The picture is the typical vision of what a scientist looks like. One interesting fact was the placement of his own name on the
pocket. When asked why he put his name there, he said "no reason." It is interesting that he identified himself on the scientists lab coat but he does not want
to be a scientist. However, he does think he could become one: "Could you become a scientist? Yes, but I dont want to." He thought anyone could become a scientist
if they wanted to. He equates the same characteristics to a scientists family as to the scientist in terms of what they do. As reported earlier, he said that scientists
"study animals and people" and when asked what the scientists family liked, he said "They like to read and take care of people/animals." The child was able to recall two
