on the technology of the age to move forward and facilitate greater flexibility and convenience. Technology has moved at a revolutionary pace at the end of the twentieth century; where
once the telephone was seen as an efficient form of communication, development in the mobile, or cellular, telephone market has taken place at such a raid rate it has moved
faster than public demand and understanding. The idea of third generation mobile telephones has increased the functionality and potential. However, in many areas the development has been slower, Ironically, one
of the slower areas in Europe has been Greece, the home of some of the first communications systems. Looking at this fro the perspective of Greece, where the
third generation technology has only gone live in January of 2004, we can see a pattern that is similar to other countries, with a slow take up and progress behind
schedule. However, unlike many other countries, with the 2004 summer Olympics taking place in August 2004 there is likely to be a greater demand for the service in the near
