Some may state that her book, which essentially discusses the "God question" in terms of his relevance and necessity in modern times, is a book which negatively provides us with a God that is not stable and generally left up to the perceptions of man. One could also examine her book from a positive perspective that argues different times require that we adjust and still focus on the will and Word of God. In the following paper we examine both sides, arguing that Solles book is a positive one that can benefit each and every Christian, no matter where they live. Thinking About God Solle points out that we are a product of our inherent nature as men, that which is highly changing, and as such we will often interpret God in different ways as we move through the ages. In many ways this can be seen negatively as it involves our relationship with, and our perception of, God. This can be seen as a focus that illustrates God is only a figment of our imaginations that changes faces with each new generation. This God question seems to put God into a category that is not stable, but up to the interpretation of mankind. For example, a hundred years ago the God that Americans envisioned is highly different than the God envisioned today. Today we can see God take on the figure of an African American, a woman, or any other number of guises in order to suit the needs of mankind. A hundred years ago there was little question about how God looked. So, does this mean that God changes? That is perhaps the most essential question when examining the work of Solle.
