it. People are increasingly asking if there isnt a better way to handle this, such as staying well in the first place, or using non-traditional methods when things do go
wrong. Alternative medicine is usually much less invasive, and a good deal less expensive than going to a traditional doctor. The Alexander technique, however, is not considered therapy by its
practitioners, who emphasize that it is not intended to "cure" anything; perhaps the best way to understand it is to think of it as a way to be aware of
what is happening to our bodies as the result of our posture, stance, and other factors (Palmer, 2005). Roy Palmer describes himself as "an Alexander Technique Teacher, runner, martial artist
and published author," with over 25 years in sports and ten in performance enhancement (Palmer, 2005). Just to be clear, "performance enhancement" in this context has to do with sports,
dance, playing musical instruments and the like, not sexual activities.) Palmer says: The Alexander Technique is often misunderstood so it is best to start by stating what it
is not. It is not a form of relaxation or a set of exercises to improve posture. Neither is it an alternative therapy; although radical it is entirely consistent with
orthodox medical science and educational in nature. It is a practical method for preventing interference with free movement (Palmer, 2005). Palmer writes that most adults "unknowingly develop habits that
