King was assassinated by a man named James Earl Ray, a man disgruntled with King. However, there is incredibly strong evidence that this was not the case in the slightest.
As is often the case with anything as controversial as the assassination of a leading, and controversial, figure, one can assume that many people would claim there was a conspiracy,
that what was told in the media was not the truth. Many people still argue that Elvis Presley is not dead. But, the main difference is that conditions or beliefs
such as those surrounding the life of Presley are mere conjecture. In the case of King, years after his murder, the case was brought back into the limelight, in a
court of law, and it was agreed by that court that King was not just killed by Ray but that the government was deeply involved. This is proof that the
stories that were told were false. But, at the same time the media never sufficiently covered this trial and the truth that emerged in 1999. This is the topic of
William F. Peppers work An Act of State. The following paper examines this truth as seen through Peppers work. Theory of the Assassination of Martin Luther King As
noted, one must remember that what Pepper presents is not just a theory about conspiracy, but information and facts that were supported in a court of law in 1999, indicating
it was not a theory but truth. And, the truth is that the murder of King was not the act of one man but many men and many men in
