1963 Key Concepts The question really is, why dont we commit crimes. It is because of prosocial bonding. Prosocial bonds are developed with other people, prosocial values and prosocial institutions.
There are four types of bonds: attachment, commitment, involvement, belief. The bonds control our behaviors and keep us all from committing crimes whenever we might be tempted. If there are
no strong prosocial bonds, we will be more likely to commit crimes. Labeling makes the person the label so if an individual is labeled a criminal or delinquent, they
will take on that identity. Labeling a person a criminal neglects all the other roles this person may play in life. Criminal Types Delinquents and adults, broad spectrum of crime

The question is not why people commit crime but whey they dont. The social bond theory is based on the prosocial bonds we each develop with values, other people and
