Adler, one of Freuds freethinking students, considered the common feelings of weakness and inferiority to represent a destructive lifestyle. Accordingly, a significant aspect of
a persons life is comprised of attempting to compensate for weaknesses, either real or self-perceived. Moreover, familial emotional components play an integral role in establishing an individuals active/passive or
constructive/destructive tendencies (Feist, 2001). Freud first introduced the Oedipus complex as a way of explaining certain personality traits that develop within and as
a result of the familial structure. This obvious connection to anthropology led Freuds predecessors to continue applying such a concept even as the family structure continued to change; it
became apparent that even though that was the case, there were issues in that particular structure that remained the same (Feist, 2001). Jungs
theory of collective unconscious demonstrated how the dual nature of mans unconscious mind reflects two critical components of how people perceive their world upon an unwitting level and thereby formulate
personality. Thus, the collective unconscious reflects the minds ability to process every experience that has been encountered with regard to mankind as a species; the personal unconscious, on the
