Essay / Research Paper Abstract
14 pages in length. Love is not only elusive in its existence but it is also obscure in its definition. From passion to familial to friendship and everything in between, the very notion of love defies any unique formula, a reality that serves to both confound and captivate at the same time. The extent to which love exists upon myriad levels is both grand and far-reaching; that many psychologists, philosophers and common folk have attempted to fine tune a definition speaks to the vast comprehensiveness of one of man's most basic of emotions. Bibliography lists 16 sources.

units. The point being, love is doomed because society requires multiple, sanitized relationships, and because it needs the energy that might be put into sex to be diverted instead
to the task of building culture" (Fonda, 1996). From the Greeks to Freud, theories of love abound in mans quest to fully understand his own motivational factors. Evidence
