he heard the news. His grandmother picked him and his two younger brothers up from school early that day. He knew something was up as soon as he
heard the announcement from the front office that he was supposed to get his books to go home. His teacher even sensed something was desperately wrong and walked out
into the hall with him a ways until they met Jeremys grandmother and his brothers walking towards them. Jeremy immediately asked what was up but his grandmother just told
him that she was "springing them early". He could tell from her composure, however, that this wasnt a casual day out of school. Something must have happened at
home. As they drove from the school to his grandmothers farm Jeremy was deep in thought. His mother and father were having problems and his father had recently moved
out of the house to his own apartment. Jeremy knew plenty of other children whose parents were divorced. He knew that it wasnt a fun thing to go
through regardless of the circumstances behind it. It would mean being shuttled from one home to the other and missing school events because one parent or the other couldnt
take them there. Most of all it would mean that there would be a constant tug of war between his parents and he and his brothers would be the
rope. It was a long drive to his grandmothers house and Jeremy could barely bear the silence. Despite his persistent questioning, however, his grandmother wasnt telling him anything other
than she had just decided to pick them up early. It wasnt until the next morning that Jeremy finally learned the truth. It was Saturday and his cub
