All characters in the novel have their own dream Dreams have a very large role in this novel. There is the Great American Dream overall - "there is a place out there that will be mine." The subset of this great dream is also that "I, as an individual, will no longer feel lonely." All characters seem to have a variant of this dream as well, whether the place is, that which will allow them to be, as they perceive themselves, as Curleys wife with the wayward dream of acting.
