One piece of information is aligned with the fact that certain global centers like China and India will be very relevant. This means that executives ought to brush up on their knowledge of these foreign cultures. Yet, it is the case that certain sectors are more vulnerable to global trends and that those in such industries should be more aware of the changes that are yet to come. What is perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this book is the attention to the entrepreneur. Many who look at globalization see large conglomerates doing business in small countries and exploiting the people. In fact, there is much criticism about globalization due to such factors. Yet, Friedman (2005) sees small businesses succeeding throughout the world. The point made is that there is a global reach and everyone is able to have that access. For many years, people have wanted to find ways to be successful and beat the nine to five trap. For a time in America, the way to success was to be a "yes" man at a Fortune 500 company. Yet, with insights from Friedman (2005) and the recognition that things are definitely changing, one is inclined to explore the new dynamic the author promotes. In The World is Flat, Friedman (2005) takes a look at business as the twenty-first century unfolds.
