Businesses which have in fact put into place a process which is meant to control their users actually only leads their users through a pre-selected process. The use of this process however is user controlled as users and companies acknowledge that the users are able to exist at any time and choose another product or page from the millions that are available. The concept of control of the world wide web lessens with each day as it continues to include areas within the global community and also continues to be the new frontier which offers limitless opportunity by all who utilize it. While it may be the case that more and more components within the web sphere are being capitalized upon, the web overall contains many more elements which are free to the user and alternatives to those elements which have been capitalized upon. Rather than a sense of control which many people believe has infected the world wide web, it has instead undergone a limited sense of selection which many people equate with control. This can be found in the environment of the search engines.
