Marie Carbo "A nationally known award-winning researcher, Dr. Marie Carbo is the originator of the Carbo Reading Styles Program. The Carbo Program has been recognized by the Kentucky Department
of Education as one of only seven reading programs nationally that can document consistently high student performance results, and by the U.S. Department of Education as one of a handful
of reading programs with a strong research base" (National Reading Styles Institute, 2003). She is the founder as well as the "executive director of the National Reading Styles Institute
(NRSI). NRSI has empowered thousands of educators across the country to greatly improve reading instruction through its on-site training, videos, conferences, seminars, interactive web site and model schools" (National Reading
Styles Institute, 2003). Dr. Carbo has also "keynoted many national conferences as well as the National Reading Styles Conference. She serves as consultant nationally and internationally, for the Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), Phi Delta Kappa, the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), state education departments, universities, school districts, and corporations. Dr. Carbo was a member of
