was a man whose life and studies resulted in theories connected with personality and with psychogenic trends in human beings. His theories essentially revolve around motives, presses, and needs as
they control or help develop a persons personality. The following paper examines his work, with a brief discussion of his life as well. The Work of Henry Murray
Background: Murray was not a man who was planning to become involved in psychology as he first started in the field of medicine. He earned a medical degree and then
went on to biochemistry as his choice of profession/study. However, he read the work of Jung and became fascinated to the point where he arranged to meet with Jung. When
they met it seems that Murray was so intrigued that he incited Jung to suggest that Murray actually study psychoanalysis. This was where his interest in the field of study
truly began as he did just what Jung suggested and went to Harvard to study, after which he began to teach (All Psych Online, 2004). It seems that his
past education which was immersed in medicine and biochemistry truly gave him a perspective on psychology that many psychologists did not possess. As such his perspectives were different, as well
