This paper uses Platos description of Socrates and his methods to try and answer the questions. Discussion Is wisdom knowledge? The study of knowledge if epistemology, and has been
engaging lively debate for millennia. But applying only our own thinking to the question, it appears that we can say that knowledge and wisdom are not the same. If knowledge
is knowing, as in knowing the facts about something, does it also mean that person is wise? No, because experts can make horrendous mistakes and do incredibly stupid things even
in the field they know well. To take a trivial example, Bill Gates is obviously a genius when it comes to computers, but its very difficult to imagine sitting down
to ask his advice about a difficult personal matter. He has knowledge, but (perhaps) not wisdom. Whats the difference? Trying to find a reasonable definition is like herding cats or
nailing Jell-O to a tree; its almost impossible to get a real grasp on the concept. We tend to operate on the principle that we know a wise person when
we learn about them, and there are some people who are accounted wise because of who they are: the Dalai Lama, for instance, or the Pope. The individual who holds
his position may not be wise, but he is given that attribute because of the post he holds. All of this goes to show how difficult it is to define
