over and the United States of America was firmly founded there was no more real conflict between the United States and England. However, there came the War of 1812 which
some people refer to as a second revolution between the two. One author notes, "The War of 1812 is sometimes called the Second War of Independence or the forgotten war"
(Lamb and Johnson 2007). The following paper examines the War of 1812. The War of 1812 "From the end of the
American Revolution in 1783, the United States had been irritated by the failure of the British to withdraw from American territory along the Great Lakes; their backing of the Indians
on Americas frontiers; and their unwillingness to sign commercial agreements favorable to the United States" (Gatewayno 2008). The animosity from the United States towards England grew throughout the French Revolution
and the Napoleonic Wars as well as France became more powerful in Europe and the English became more powerful at sea (Gatewayno 2008).
At the same time both France and England were battling with one another for various control or power. For example, "Britain attempted to blockade the continent of Europe, and
France tried to prevent the sale of British goods in French possessions" (Gatewayno 2008). While one may envision that this would have little to do with the United States it
did cause problems and tensions due to the relations that the United States held with each country and after the year 1803 the tensions with the United States became more
