has to do with several factors, including the notion that the nation was harboring the same terrorists that attacked the United States, that there was world support for the action
and that it was swift and easy to execute. That was the initial part of the war of terror and it did several things. First, the action showed the
terrorists that they have attacked the wrong country and that the United States would take retaliatory action. To do nothing would have been an invitation to more terror. It would
have made George W. Bush and the administration look weak in the eyes of the world. Even Hillary Clinton agreed that the response was appropriate (Bellantoni, 2007). The initial military
action also did eradicate certain dangerous factions. During 2001, the dangerous Al-Qaeda group operated freely in Afghanistan ("Leaders," 2006). It was a terrorist organization that was actually supported by the
Taliban regime, and the Taliban would not cooperate with the United States ("Leaders," 2006). The invasion of Afghanistan was therefore a positive approach to the problem. Further, America had
international support for that action ("Leaders," 2006). This is very important. Although it is not necessarily the case that the correct moral action is the most popular one, acting in
the face of adversity should mean that the action is strongly supported by the actor. In the case of the attack on Afghanistan, it was. The same thing is not
true for Iraq. In fact, the United States of America is clearly divided on this issue. Yet, down the road, Bin Laden had been forgotten. The war in Iraq does
seem to be distinct from the war on terror. On the other hand, if one looks at many nations in the region as dangerous, and as harboring terrorists, the future
