Essay / Research Paper Abstract
This 7 page report discusses Hawaii’s
volcanoes and their geological features, age, and historical
patterns. The various stages of development of the volcanoes
also reflect the development of the Hawaiian islands. While there
is rarely great destruction or loss of life related to Hawaii’s
active volcanoes, it should be noted that Kilauea’s continuous
state of eruptions have, since 1983, resulted in 1.3 cubic
kilometers of rock, more than the volume created in the 1980
blast at Mount St. Helens. Obviously, the volcanoes of Hawaii
still have an impressive impact. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
