The concept of love is vast and complex because there are so many different kinds of love (The School of Spiritual Psychology, 2002). The topic becomes smaller when we consider
love as a virtue because as a virtue it has nothing to do with being in love or loving someone. Love as a virtue shifts to "the level of spiritual
action in the world in our relationships with others" (The School of Spiritual Psychology, 2002). One aspect of the virtue of love is its relational nature, it is not a
commodity that we have and dole out (The School of Spiritual Psychology, 2002). The virtue of love is something that is inherently spiritual (The School of Spiritual Psychology, 2002).
The virtue of love is what connects us to the divine world but it also connects us to other persons (The School of Spiritual Psychology, 2002). It is something that
goes beyond ourselves. Its is, in fact, a commandment given to us by Jesus Christ who said: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved
you, so you must love one another" (John 13:34). This is a pure love, one that is unconditional. When we adopt love and practice it as a virtue, we
see past all the trappings. We see the essence of the other person. We see their potential. We practice what St. Paul wrote: "Love is patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, . . . It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). We often hear and use the word faith, e.g., I have faith in you. Faith is believing in
