philosopher king but for Machiavelli, it is the founder who falls into that category. However, one may equate the founder with the prince of which he writes in his work
that bears the title. And while each of these philosophers who wrote centuries ago see a kind of human being as most righteous, there are differences and similarities in
each of the interpretations. What makes someone a higher human being than another? In contemporary society one is apt to look at global ideas and see that people with
political power rule. Even if such individuals are not wealthy--as in the United States--a leader can still have power. For instance, Bill Clinton was not wealthy prior to becoming president.
While in general the wealthy seem to call the shots, there are political leaders who are in some ways higher on the totem pole than those who have a mass
amount of wealth. All of Bill Gatess money cannot buy him the power to change laws. He is merely a citizen. Therefore, although some may look at the society as
valuing wealth--despite the fact that many contend that is a superficial stance--the truth is that wealth is not equated with power. In terms of a high human being, one may
contend that it is the spiritual being--the priests, the rabbis, the ministers--who are really higher. However, they have little political power. Hence, when discussing differences in types of leaders and
who has more power or influence, and what makes a human being great, it is not hard to come to different conclusions. There are many interpretations. Although it is
