which 21st century computer graphic design has progressed. In understanding El Lissitzkys influence, it is necessary to understand the basis of graphic design, the underlying principles, and the elements
of typography that were dictated by the premises of El Lissitzky. GRAPHIC DESIGN Graphic design can be defined as the "visual representation of an idea or concept"
(Graphic Design Dictionary, 2003). Essentially graphic design is a collective name that references all activities related to visual design elements. In the past, graphic design related to typography,
visual composition, and the use of light and dark as elements of design. In the modern era, these elements are also incorporated into all the other activities related to
visual design, including logo design, web design and other technological methods for design development. The purpose of graphic design, then, is to integrate artistry as a means of presenting
a specific message. Graphic design is the tool through which an individuals message is conveyed, and the purpose of graphic design is the adequate and accurate conveyance of the
artists message. The graphic design thought process in general is one that is defined by many of the same principles that are used in art and drawing. Graphic
