photograph which made many people back home truly abhor the war and find more reason to fight against any involvement in Vietnam. The following paper discusses this writers emotions and
thoughts when viewing Adams photograph. The Viet Cong Execution This particular picture seems to offer up an innocent man, or a man who is complacent about his situation. This
presents this viewer with a loss of hope and an understanding that the man who is going to be shot is giving up. Of course, this also makes this writer
think of what they do not know about the man standing there ready to be shot. While it is a graphic picture which gives us a moment before this man
will be dead, it is also a very silent picture that asks us to look deeper. There is also a very powerful tension seen from the general holding the
gun, and this incites many feelings. It feels as though the general may be simply doing his duty, or that the general is very angered at the nonchalant nature of
the man to be shot. There are also the shadows on the street behind which, for this viewer, seem to add to the tension almost as though they were emphasizing
the angle of the generals arm, issuing further power in the stance. In most ways the photo is very tense and incites feelings of remorse, anger, frustration and fear.
The remorse is for all the killing that took place during the Vietnam war. The anger is also aimed at the fact that war of any kind takes place and
that people often feel the obligation of killing a man such as the victim in this picture. Frustration is also associated with the idea of war itself. It seems that
