set of results. In a Danish study there was the examining of former studies. The development of a breast screening programme had been shown to increased the detention rates of
breast cancer and as a result increase the life expectancy of those who suffered form the disease and decrease the rate of deaths caused by the condition. The new study
throws doubt ion the assertion that the routine use of mammograms in screening of women over forty has any positive benefits. The new paper places a cloud over the
assumption, the research that put this former programme is places is argued to be flawed. The argument is that if the studies were flawed then the results will also
be flawed as they have an unsafe foundation. The implication of the newer paper is that the cost that is incurred by the regular screening of all women over
forty may not be money well spent and that even where the disease is detected the life expectancy that is increased may be at the cost of the quality of
life of the sufferer. The conclusion that is likely to be made from a quick perusal of this article is that there is not a benefit to the undertaking of
the screening and that as a result the resources used in the programme are not creating any benefits, and may be increasing suffering as a result of the lowering of
the quality of life of those detected to have the disease and the inability to determine which sufferers are most likely to recover. This is the impression the article may
