film provided the public with information about the ecosystem and other matters and how global warming was a problem. The intent of his award winning documentary was to get the
public to a point where they would care about the environment. Why? While Gores motives are likely genuine, there are political interests at stake. Environmentalism is a political movement in
that it is only with governmental cooperation that the environment can be cleaned up. Al Gore is a politician and not a scientist. Hence, in part, the motives are attached
to his political aspirations as well as to that of his party. It might in fact be associated with a desire to put America on the map in terms of
being a savior of the earth. While that might be a bold statement, America has tried to be a leader in terms of morality on many fronts. Environmentalism is a
real concern today, and Al Gore broached the subject with his book and film. Whether he has succeeded or not is debatable, but certainly there is much attention to the
environment today. Gores film may be examined on two levels. One has to do with aesthetics. Is the presentation well done? The other has to do with accuracy. First, the
film is well accomplished to an extent. Obviously, it is not as good as if it were done in some other medium with expert retouching and new and innovative artwork,
but it is acceptable. Also, there are motivational speakers like Wayne Dyer and Tony Robbins who can get people in a state where they want to do something. Gore on
the other hand is rather bland in character. There are many jokes about him being made of wood, and he jokes along with critics. He realizes as do others that
