are political news websites as well as specific search engines just for political topics. By using these specialized search engines, for example, irrelevant information will be weeded out when a
search is conducted. Social networking is used for most campaigns today. It was probably during the last presidential campaign that this was most noticeable. It was widely reported
that President Obama was one of the first to use Twitter for his campaign. YouTube has facilitated the ability to spread videos rapidly. For example, if a candidate is speaking
at an event, someone can easily record it and quickly upload it to YouTube. The rapidity with which these technological products can be spread has created a sense that all
information can be sent in an instant. Social networking is a given today for most established businesses and start up companies, but is it really appropriate for political campaigns?
While many politicians are using it, Catone (2007) examined the issue and does not think it is the best marketing tool for most candidates. Catone (2007) remarks: " The candidate
du jour you want to buddy up to online isnt necessarily the one people think is the best for the job." Catone (2007) notes that likeability, or being a buddy
on someones friend list, is not really a reason to vote for a candidate. In other words, people do not necessarily vote for someone just because he or she uses
