work "The Untouchables." While many revere Ness as an almost godly hero, others argue he was a man who sought glory and that his work is exaggerated. However, his work
is provable in terms of what he did to help capture and convict Al Capone in a very tumultuous time in the nations history. His work was never published while
Ness was still alive, but yet the work, although written by Ness, provides a very powerful and personal look at a major time in history. The following paper reviews this
work. The Untouchables First and foremost, there are many who would argue that this particular book is greatly exaggerated because it was written by Ness. There are those who
would argue that it is therefore not a true account of what went on in relationship to Al Capone and the Untouchables who worked with Ness. But, even if it
is exaggerated to some extent, this does not necessarily take away from the intriguing story that unfolds. Ness was, by all accounts, the man in charge and if he did
exaggerate then this only further illustrates the personality and interesting nature of the story and the man who was involved. In other words, it is much like hearing a legendary
story embellished by a person who was there, giving the reader an exciting and passionate story. This story is intriguing for its historical realities, regardless of exaggeration. It tells
of how Ness was hired by the government to do a job, a job he did well. It speaks of the intrigue of corrupt people, lawmen and criminals alike, and
