Nathaniel Adams Coles was indeed an enchanted boy. Born March 17, 1919 in the "Jim Crow South" of Montgomery, Alabama, Nathaniel Coles parents, the Reverend Edward James Coles Sr. and Perlina Adams Coles, moved their family to Chicago, Illinois when little Nat was but four years old (Villepique http://www.salon.com/books/review/1999/11/12/ epstein/; Biography.com http://biography.com/cgi-bin/bio main.cgi).
